From their union were born the Ōyashima, or the eight great islands of Japan: Awaji Iyo (later Shikoku) Oki Tsukushi (later Kyūshū) Iki Tsushima Sado Yamato (later Honshū) Note that Hokkaidō, Chishima and Okinawa were not part of Japan in ancient times.
