Animal feed is supplemented during the periods of greatest scarcity with the distribution of conserved foodstuffs (hay and straw) from the demarcated geographical area, and the use of cereal crops and fodder crops, for direct or cut pasturing, and these are cultivated in an autumnal-winter sowing regime dry, with or without oats, with vetch (Vicia sativa), rye (Secale cereale), yellow lupin (Lupinus luteus) and other fodder crops and on irrigated parcels or fresh non-irrigated land and, in a spring sowing regime, with maize (Zea mays) and fodder sorghum (Sorghum vulgare) and other fodder crops usual in the region and based on pulses and cereals.
