In the relevant paragraphs of the contested decision, the Board of Appeal, having first noted that a trade mark should be evaluated in its entirety, found that the combination of the English word ‘cell’ and the English short-form ‘tech’, each of which lacked any distinctive character individually, was nothing more than the sum of its parts since no distinguishing feature resulted from those parts being conjoined.
