In order to avoid highly unfavourable consequences for some Member States' markets, including Poland's, the Polish Government asked the Commission to extend the scope of Directive 2004/24/EC(1) with regard to registration under the simplified procedure of medicinal products of plant and animal origin to allow the registration of medicinal plant products containing isolated plant ingredients, such as boldine, caffeine, rutoside, esculin, camphor, menthol, thymol and cineol, or their synthetic equivalents, e.g. synthetic menthol and synthetic camphor, and ingredients of animal origin, such as dehydrocholic acid, propolis, royal jelly and honey.
Joidenkin jäsenvaltioiden, muiden muassa Puolan, markkinoihin kohdistuvien erittäin epäsuotuisten seurausten välttämiseksi Puolan hallitus on pyytänyt komissiota laajentamaan direktiivin 2004/24/EY(1) soveltamisalaa siten, että mahdollistettaisiin kasvi‐ ja eläinperäisten lääkevalmisteiden rekisteröinti yksinkertaistettua menettelyä käyttäen, jotta kasviperäiset lääkevalmisteet, jotka sisältävät kasviperäisiä isolaatteja kuten boldiinia, kofeiinia, rutosiidia, eskuliinia, kamferia, mentolia, tymolia, sineolia tai niiden synteettisiä vastineita kuten synteettistä mentolia tai synteettistä kamferia tai eläinperäisiä ainesosia, esimerkiksi dehydrokoolihappoa, kittivahaa, emoainetta tai hunajaa, voitaisiin rekisteröidä.
