While it is true that the reference to `the total agricultural area farmed' could support the conclusion, suggested by the Council, the Commission and the United Kingdom, that this is a definition of general scope which refers to the entire area of an agricultural holding, it is equally true that reference to the term `producer', as defined in Regulation No 1078/77, would seem, as the applicants (17) maintain, ineluctably to link that concept to the raising of cattle and hence to the productive use to which the land is put.
