The uniform interpretation of ‘the country’ and ‘the place where the employee habitually carries out his work’ in Article 6(2)(a) of the Rome Convention and Article 5(1) of the Brussels Convention may therefore be conducive to consistency between forum and ius, because on the basis of uniform interpretation, the court for the place where the employee habitually carries out his work will generally have jurisdiction for disputes arising from contracts of employment, and that court will at the same time apply its own law (lex loci laboris (81)).
