A live attenuated Oka-strain varicella vaccine was first developed in 1974 and vaccines are licensed in Japan, Korea, several European countries and the U.S. The safety, immunogenicity and efficacy of the vaccine have all been reported as favourable in both healthy and leukemic children(6,14,15).
