The visit to famous places in the life of Moses, the solemn Mass in honour of St John the Baptist at the Amman stadium, the Eucharistic celebrations in the Upper Room and at the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem were unforgettable moments in which "our soul [was] stirred not only by the memory of what God has done but by his very presence, walking with us once again in the land of Christ's Birth, Death and Resurrection" (Angelus, Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, 26 March 2000).

St. Angelus is undoubtedly one of the leading figures of the early days of the history of our Order. Because of the scant data we have of his life, we know that he probably came from the Holy Land (in fact, he is also known as St. Angelus of Jerusalem) and that he dedicated his life to preaching. Likewise, he is usually linked, even iconographically, with Saint Dominic Guzman and with Saint Francis of Assisi, thus emphasizing the inclusion of Carmel among the mendicant orders.
Sant’Angelo è senza dubbio una delle figure significative dei primi tempi della storia del nostro Ordine. Per via della scarsità dei dati che possediamo della sua vita, sappiamo che con ogni probabilità venne dalla Terra Santa (difatti è anche conosciuto come sant’Angelo di Gerusalemme) e dedicò la propria vita alla predicazione.

After leading the recitation of the Angelus, the Holy Father greeted the pilgrims and visitors in various languages. To the English-speaking he said:

While greeting the pilgrims during the Angelus in St. Peter Square, the Holy Father further said: “In fact, in those countries, unfortunately marked by deep divisions and torn by age-old conflicts, the Church is called to be a sign and instrument of unity and reconciliation, modelled on the first community of Jerusalem”.
Parole che ha successivamente riportato nell’Angelus in Piazza san Pietro, incontrando i pellegrini: “Infatti, in quei Paesi, purtroppo segnati da profonde divisioni e lacerati da annosi conflitti, la Chiesa è chiamata ad essere segno e strumento di unità e di riconciliazione, sul modello della prima comunità di Gerusalemme”.
