I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true. 18Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with — not until the end of all things. 19So then, whoever disobeys even the least important of the commandments and teaches others to do the same, will be least in the Kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, whoever obeys the Law and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the Kingdom of heaven. 20I tell you, then, that you will be able to enter the Kingdom of heaven only if you are more faithful than the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees in doing what God requires. It is much better for you to lose one of your limbs than for your whole body to go to hell. New Truths and Old 51“Do you understand these things?” Jesus asked them. “Yes,” they answered. 52So he replied, “This means, then, that every teacher of the Law who becomes a disciple in the Kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who takes new and old things out of his storeroom.” Jesus is Rejected at Nazareth (Mk 6.1–6; Lk 4.16–30) 53When Jesus finished telling these parables, he left that place 54and went back to his home town. As a youngster growing up in the clay country I had no idea that the Cornish language even existed. It is only as an adult, as I raise my own children, that a sense of identity has become more important to me and that motivated me to find out whether language classes were available locally. When I asked the question I had no idea how the revival of the language has progressed in the last thirty years and how accessible classes, teachers and literature were. I started studying in 2007 and have taken grades 1, 2 and 3. I am currently studying for grade 4 which involves not only study of the ancient texts, but also requires a demonstration of a knowledge of the history of Cornwall, which I thought I knew pretty well, but I now realise is much more complicated and interesting than I used to think. I am trying to raise my son in the Cornish language and I have a desire that he will become a Cornish speaker. It’s not hard at them moment to do that; he isn’t yet eight months and therefore it’s easy to entertain him in the language with voice and children’s books. We are lucky to have a lot of good children’s books available in Cornish. But that is where such availability or media finishes.
