Torrential rainfalls caused flooding with up to 50-year return periods especially in the catchment areas of the Berounka, Vltava and Labe rivers and affecting in particular the regions of South Bohemia, Plzeň, Central Bohemia, Hradec Králové, Liberec, Ústí and the City of Prague which represent approx. 54% of the Czech Republic territory and directly concerned more than one third of the population of the Czech Republic. 15 people were killed and 23 000 had to be evacuated.
