From 1893 the fort was linked to other forts around Belfort via the Chemins de fer du Territoire de Belfort strategic railroad.

(b) to open the Article 93 (2) procedure against the retention in the ́exceptional' PAT area of all the previously eligible areas in the departments of Eure, Sarthe, Doubs, Territoire de Belfort and, in the department of Haute-Saône, the previously eligible arrondissement of Vesoul and the conversion centre of Le Creusot, for the reason that none of these areas, except for the Haute-Saône, have economic characteristics (level of structural unemployment and GDP per inhabitant) making them eligible for regional aid.

36 On the other hand, the effect on intra-Community trade of the other provisions of the domestic legislation which are separable from the operation of the monopoly although they have a bearing upon it, must be examined with reference to Article 30 of the Treaty (see, to this effect, the judgments in Miritz, cited above, paragraph 5, Cassis de Dijon, cited above, paragraph 7, and Case 86/78 Peureux v Services Fiscaux de la Haute-Saône et du Territoire de Belfort [1979] ECR 897, paragraph 35).
