3. Recalls that every European Council from December 1993 in Brussels to March 1996 in Turin has stated that the highest priority must be given to the fight against unemployment; emphasizes that the credibility of the European Council is at stake in the work that it has set in train to prepare its next meeting in June 1996 in Florence, which will concentrate on this subject; insists that the full implementation of the White Paper on Growth, Competitiveness and Employment and the adoption of the Commission's initiative for a European Confidence Pact on Employment with the social partners, including the revision of the financial perspective, are indispensable for a credible approach to this issue;
3. wijst erop dat de Europese Raad bij elke bijeenkomst vanaf december 1993 in Brussel tot en met maart 1996 in Turijn heeft verklaard dat de hoogste prioriteit moet worden toegekend aan de bestrijding van de werkloosheid; onderstreept dat de geloofwaardigheid van de Europese Raad op het spel staat bij de op gang gebrachte voorbereidingen voor zijn bijeenkomst a.s. juni 1996 in Florence, waar dit onderwerp centraal zal staan; benadrukt dat het Witboek inzake groei, concurrentievermogen en werkgelegenheid volledig in praktijk moet worden gebracht en dat het initiatief van de Europese Commissie tot een met de sociale partners te sluiten vertrouwenspact inzake werkgelegenheid moet worden goedgekeurd, gepaard met een herziening van de financiële vooruitzichten, wil een geloofwaardige benadering van dit vraagstuk mogelijk zijn;EurLex-2 EurLex-2
