In relation to Catalonia too, the Commission compares the IBA 98 with the actual classifications and concludes that 10 of 21 IBAs are not covered at all and the remainder are only partially covered and therefore that some of the 62 species of bird listed in Annex I which breed in Catalonia are protected in SPAs to only an inadequate degree, namely the lesser grey shrike (Lanius minor), the capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), the shag (Phalacrocorax aristotelis), the little bustard, the Calandra lark (Melanocorypha calandra), the Dupont’s lark (Chersophilus duponti), the European roller (Coracias garrulus), the short-toed lark (Calandrella brachydactyla) and the collared pratincole (Glareola pratincola).
