덴표원(729)년 창건이라고 하는 오랜 역사와 전통이 있는 신사입니다. 도쿠가와 이에야스에 관계가 깊고 엔슈 입국이나 나가시노 합전시에 참배했다고 합니다. 경내에는「도요하시의 거목・명목 100선」에 뽑힌 계수나무가 있습니다.
