호류지 보물관은 호류지 헌납 보물 300여 건을 보관하는 건물(구 보물관)로 1964년에 개관되었으나, 당시에는 문화재 보존이 목적이었기 때문에 일주일에 단 하루만 공개되었으나, 공개일을 늘리자는 요구가 커져 보존과 공개를 목적으로 한 건물로 다시 세워져 1999년에 개관되었습니다. 다니구치 요시오가 설계한 현재의 보물관은 매우 현대적인 모습으로 2001년에 일본 건축학회상과 일본 건축학회 작품선장으로 추천되었습니다.
