Midoribashi Bridge spanned the Sengen River, a canal that once linked the western Hirano River with the old Naka-Koya Kaido highway (located along the present-day municipal boundaries of Higashi-Osaka City). Until construction to fill in the canal began in 1967, the 1,800-meter long Sengen River flowed across the region and was busy with boat traffic going to and from Higashinari and the city center.
