Helaas ligt daar nu net het grote probleem bij Belenos: echt een prima band, maar qua bekendheid en waardering komt de band al jaren niet verder dan de insiders... ik denk niet dat dat met dit album ‘Kornôg’ gaat veranderen.
Yet there lies the problem for Belenos: really a great band, but when it comes down to acknowledgement and appreciation for years the band does not get any further than the insiders, and I don’t think that this will change with ‘Kornôg’.

Zo heeft Loïc Cellier van Belenos ooit in deze band gezeten, en de link is Bathory: Nydvind heeft namelijk een erg episch karakter en prima drumwerk, al is het drumwerk bij Belenos fenomenaal.
For instance, Belenos' Loïc Cellier has once been in the line-up, and the link is Bathory: Nydvind happens to have a very epic nature and fine drum work, although Belenos' drumming is phenomenal for the scene and so even better.

Door de mix van schreeuwen en de heldere zang zal het als pagan metal betiteld worden, maar had Loic meer gekrijst dan was het epische black metal geweest: dit om een beetje aan te geven waar Belenos muzikaal zit.

Belenos valt niet alleen op door de naam (de strip Asterix, je weet wel) maar ook door de muziek die gewoon niet onderdoet voor de muziek van de genoemde bands.
Belenos is not only notable for it's name (the comic Asterix, remember?) but also through it's music which is just as good as the music from the mentioned bands.

Zoals ik al zei in de eerste zin van de review, de band heeft linken met Bran Barr en Belenos.

Over voorganger ‘Yenn Son Gardis’ uit 2010 schreef ik dat dit het album was dat I/Demonaz ooit had moeten maken, een album epischer dan ooit voor Belenos.
Predecessor ‘Yenn Son Gardis’ from 2010 was in my view the album I or Demonaz should have delivered, and was more epic than Belenos had ever been before.

Van wat ik kon begrijpen, geloofden deze ruiters dat ze geïnvesteerd hadden met de geest van een van hun goden, Belenos, de god Ram, waar een ander, het is nog steeds een kenmerk van deze oude filosofie die de reis van de geest, zijn fysieke en avontuurlijke pad en de spirituele kracht die het bewoonde.

Dit klinkt al een beetje door in het titelnummer, waar de gitaar af en toe aan Melechesh in een doomversie doet denken (ook geen verkeerde band om mee vergeleken te worden), en waar Belenos uitpakt met een onvervalste gitaarsolo.
This progressive element is already a bit present in the title track, where the guitar sometimes make me think somehow of Melechesh in a slow version (not the worst name to be compared to I think).

Belenos is Loïc Cellier, Sinds 1995 werkt hij als eenmansband (behalve live, zie ook dit interview) in het spoor van Bathory, en in alle eerlijkheid: hij is één van de weinigen die deze erfenis eer aandoet.
Belenos is Loïc Cellier: since 1995 he has been working as (most of the time) a one man band (apart from the live setting, see our interview) in the vein of Bathory, and in all honesty: he was one of the few worthy to carry that mighty torch.
