Eveline is de zuster van Annette Herfkens die als enige de vliegramp met de Vietnam Airlines-vlucht 474 overleefde, toen die op 14 november 1992 verongelukte.

Op woensdag 18 mei, wordt de conferentie voorafgegaan door de inhuldiging om 14u in het Koninklijk Warandepark van de mobiele informatietentoonstelling over de bijdrage van de Belgische Ontwikkelingssamenwerking aan de Millenniumdoelstellingen, en dit in aanwezigheid van HKH Prinses Mathilde, Minister De Decker en van Eveline Herfkens (VN)
The conference will be preceded on Wednesday 18 May at 14.00 in the Royal Park by the inauguration of the mobile exhibition of the Belgian Cooperation on the Millennium Development Goals in the presence of HRH Princess Mathilde, Minister De Decker and of Eveline Herfkens (UN).
