Net als de Geelgors is ook de Grauwe gors verbonden met graanteelten, maar dan in meer open landschappen.

Wanneer de boomdichtheid minder is (>15 bomen/ha) en het landschap wordt gevormd door graslanden met verspreid struikgewas, duiken andere soorten op, zoals de theklaleeuwerik, de roodborsttapuit, de grauwe gors of zelfs de griel.
