Protection of asylum-seekers is guaranteed in various international agreements: the UN conventions on human rights, the Convention on the Status of Refugees with its additional Protocol, the Council of Europe's European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and its Additional Protocol No 4, and relevant EU provisions and decisions of the Court of Justice.
