21. verzoekt de Commissie het Parlement te informeren omtrent het gebruik van de minstens 100 mln. ecu die waren uitgetrokken voor milieuprojecten en met name voor het buiten bedrijf stellen van RBMK-reactoren (Tsjernobyl), zoals aangegeven in de toelichting bij artikel B7-600 (Steun voor de economische herstructurering van de landen in Midden- en Oost-Europa); stelt in dit verband met bezorgdheid vast dat de besteding van de kredieten van artikel B7-634 (Samenwerking met de landen van Midden- en Oost-Europa en de onafhankelijke Staten van de voormalige Sovjetunie op het gebied van de nucleaire veiligheid) nog steeds aan de lage kant is en verzoekt de Commissie de nodige informatie te verstrekken omtrent de uitvoering van deze begrotingslijn;
21. Asks the Commission to inform Parliament of the use of at least ECU 100 million earmarked for environmental projects and notably for the decommissioning of RBMK reactors (Chernobyl), as indicated in the remarks of Article B7-600 (Aid for the economic restructuring of the countries of central and eastern Europe); in this respect notes with concern the continuing low utilisation of appropriations of Article B7-634 (Cooperation on nuclear safety with the countries of central and eastern Europe and the Independent States of the former Soviet Union) and asks the Commission to provide adequate information on its implementation;

(16) In the case of Chernobyl there were a number of breaches of safety instructions, including the voluntary shutdown, by operators, of the automatic protection facilities on the reactor, in addition to the structural defects of RBMK reactors.
