De stad genaamd Stanisławów werd opgetrokken als een fort om het Pools-Litouwse Gemenebest te beschermen tegen invallen van de Tataren. De stad werd gebouwd op de plek waar het dorp Zabolottya in 1437 was gesticht.[2]
