De Zwartvoetalbatros is samen met de Laysanalbatros en de zeldzame Stellers albatros een van de drie soorten albatrossen die voorkomen op het noordelijk halfrond.
The black-footed albatross, along with the laysan albatross and the rare short-tailed albatross, are the three species of albatross that range in the northern hemisphere, as opposed to the rest of the family which range from the Equator south.

Haar natuuronderzoek bracht haar naar diverse locaties zoals het Atlantische regenwoud in Brazilië (ondezoek naar het bedreigde gouden leeuwaapje), Patagonië (noordkapers), Hawaï (bultruggen), Californië (onderzoek naar monarchvlinders in hun overwinteringsgebieden), French Frigate Shoals (monniksrobben), Toroshima, Japan (Stellers albatros), Texas (met Bat Conservation International), het Amazoneregenwoud en Antarctica (pinguïns).
Her research has taken her to such diverse locales as Mata Atlantic in Brazil (working with endangered golden lion tamarins), Patagonia (right whales), Hawaii (humpback whales), California (tagging monarch butterflies at their overwintering sites), French Frigate Shoals (monk seals), Toroshima, Japan (short-tailed albatross), Texas (with Bat Conservation International), the Amazon rainforest, and Antarctica (penguins).
