En ik vond op Yann's website hydracina.org een als Pionopsis lutescens gedetermineerde watermijt, die volgens mij een Tiphys ornatus is.
And on Yann's website hydracina.org I found a watermite which he describes as Pionopsis lutescens but looks to me like Tiphys ornatus.

De naam Piona gebruikt hij voor het huidige geslacht Tiphys, de naam Acercus voor wat nu een aantal Forelia soorten zijn en Curvipes voor wat nu een aantal Piona soorten zijn, een goed voorbeeld van het geharrewar met de naamgeving.

De Duitse onderzoeker Carl Ludwig Koch bedacht in 1836 de naam Tiphys voor het geslacht waar deze watermijt onder werd gebracht.
The german entomologist Carl Ludwig Koch gave the genus in which he placed this mite the name Tiphys in 1836.

De onderkant ziet er verder uit als de meeste Piona soorten, waarmee Tiphys dan ook nauw verwant is.

Het bleek een vrouwelijke Tiphys ornatus te zijn, volgens Besseling (1964) en ook volgens Viets (1936), die hem onder de nu niet meer gebruikte naam Acercus ornatus beschrijft.
