Wulfstan II moet niet verward worden met Wulfstan I, aartsbisschop van York, noch met Sint Wulfstan, bisschop van Worcester.
He should not be confused with Wulfstan I, Archbishop of York, or Wulfstan, Bishop of Worcester.

Dit is enigszins verwarrend aangezien de eerste bisschop ook wel Wulfstan II wordt genoemd, omdat hij de tweede aartsbisschop van York was met die naam.
This, however, does not prevent confusion, since the first Bishop Wulfstan is also called Wulfstan II to denote that he was the second Archbishop of York called Wulfstan.

Hij was aanwezig bij de raad van 1008 waar Wulfstan II, de aartsbisschop van York zijn Sermo Lupi ad Anglos ("de preek van de wolf tot de Engelsen") uitsprak.
He was present at the council of May 1008 at which Wulfstan II, Archbishop of York, preached his Sermo Lupi ad Anglos (The Sermon of the Wolf to the English), castigating the English for their moral failings and blaming the latter for the tribulations afflicting the country.

In 1073 waren er nog slechts twee Engelse bisschoppen. Op het moment van de dood van Willem in 1089, was Wulfstan II van Worcester nog de enige.[28]
By 1073 there were only two Englishmen in episcopal sees, and by the time of William's death in 1089, there was only one, Wulfstan II of Worcester.[75]
