Hulpwerkwoorden zijn woorden die de betekenis van een zelfstandig werkwoord (ook wel hoofdwerkwoord) veranderen.
Helping verbs are separate words that change the meaning of the main verb.

In het algemeen staat het hoofdwerkwoord na het hulpwerkwoord (of de hulpwerkwoorden).
In general, the independent verb follows after the auxiliary verb(s).

Zoals je kunt lezen in het hoofdstuk over hulpwerkwoorden, komt het hoofdwerkwoord meestal als laatste.
