Genom protokollet kommer Europeiska unionen och Cooköarna regering dessutom att kunna samarbeta närmare kring att främja ett ansvarsfullt nyttjande av fiskeresurserna i Cooköarnas vatten och kring Cooköarnas regerings ansträngningar för att utveckla sin fiskesektor, i båda parters intresse.
The Protocol also enables the European Union and the Cook Islands to work more closely together on promoting sound exploitation of fishery resources in the Cook Islands waters and to support efforts by the Government of the Cook Islands to develop its fisheries sector, in the interests of both parties.

The fisheries agreement that was negotiated and initialled on 21 October 2015 marked a new stage in relations between the Cook Islands and the EU.

I början av 1930-talet tillbringade Sydney Shepherd två år mitt ute i Stilla havet, där han reste omkring med båt och predikade på Cooköarna och Tahiti.
Out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, in the early 1930’s, Sydney Shepherd spent two years traveling by boat to preach in the Cook Islands and Tahiti.
