According to the writer Mathieu Wijnen, the earliest description of the Wachtendonck Psalms can be found in a copy of a manuscript from 1443/1444, made in 1668 by the Jesuit Johannes Gamans from a travel report of the German priest Johannes Keck (UB Würzburg, Ms. M. ch.85 ff.390r-467r).
