Als er gefragt wird, was man tun muß, um das ewige Leben zu gewinnen, weist Jesus den Weg der Befolgung des Gesetzes, sagt aber gleichzeitig, wie man es zur Vollendung bringt: »Eines fehlt dir noch: Geh, verkaufe, was du hast, gib das Geld den Armen, und du wirst einen bleibenden Schatz im Himmel haben; dann komm und folge mir nach!«

When Jesus is asked what one should do to inherit eternal life he points to the way of observance of the Law but indicates what should be done to bring it to completion: “but you lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me!

Kada su ga pitali što treba činiti da bi se baštinilo život vječni, Isus upućuje na put opsluživanja Zakona, ali pritom pokazuje što treba činiti da bi ga se potpuno obdržavalo: "Jedno ti nedostaje! Idi i što imaš, prodaj i podaj siromasima pa ćeš imati blago na nebu.
