The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) was established as a scientific and technical professional and voluntary, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improve land and water management to enhance the worldwide supply of food and fibre and the productivity of irrigated and drained lands through appropriate management of the water environment and application of scientific irrigation, drainage and flood control techniques.

La Comisión Internacional de la Irrigación y el Saneamiento (CIIS) está establecida como organización científica y técnica no gubernamental de carácter voluntario y sin fines de lucro, dedicada a mejorar el ordenamiento de las tierras y las aguas a fin de incrementar el abastecimiento mundial de alimentos y fibras, así como también la productividad de tierras de riego y de secano mediante un ordenamiento apropiado de los recursos hídricos y la aplicación de técnicas científicas de riego, abono y control de las inundaciones.
