Alongside the dragon in the small right apse, and like that marvelous scene painted on the counter-facade of the Civate church on Mount Pedale not far from Lecco, North Italy, the Anagni frescoes also once featured a work, now lost, depicting the Ascension of the Lord, or, as Revelation puts it, the taking of the child “straight up to God and to his throne” (cf The Revelation to John 12, 5).

Junto al dragón del absidiolo de la derecha, hubo un tiempo en Anagni, como en el estupendo fresco de la fachada norte de la iglesia de Civitate en el monte Pedale, no lejos de Lecco, una representación hoy perdida de la Ascensión del Señor, es decir, de lo que el Apocalipsis describe con estas palabras: «y su Hijo fue arrebatado hasta Dios y hasta su trono» (cf.
