Im März 2006 gab Eurocopter bekannt, dass ein Heavy Transport Helicopter (HTH, später umbenannt in FTH) frühestens im Jahr 2018 verfügbar wäre, unter der Voraussetzung einer Zusammenarbeit mit einer anderen Firma und einem Entwicklungsbeginn 2010.
