In the whole novel I only felt once, during one of Lou’s ruminations about alcoholism, that the words don’t sound that very authentic from the mouth of a teenage girl, and for a second I was afraid that the novel might suddenly turn into a didactic self-help book, but to my immense relief, this didn’t happen.

Az egész történet során egyetlenegyszer (Lou egyik, az alkoholizmussal kapcsolatos merengése során) éreztem úgy, hogy a mondatok nem hangzanak túl hihetően egy kamaszlány szájából, s akkor meg is ijedtem, hogy a regény hirtelen valamiféle szájbarágós önsegítőkönyvvé változik, de szerencsére ez nem történt meg.
