Poggi all’inizio degli anni Settanta, in coincidenza all’incirca con il trasferimento della capitale a Roma, e le inumazioni continuarono solo fino al 1877; poi, essendo già zona pienamente urbana, il cimitero fu ufficialmente chiuso nel 1878, “isola oramai antica in una città sempre più diversa”, come ha giustamente scritto Luigi Santini nel 1981.
