이는 우리를 억압하시고 구속하시려는 것이 아니라, 접붙여진 돌감람나무 가지가 참감람나무의 성질을 그대로 수용하지 않는다면 썩어가고 결국 죽게 되기 때문입니다. 접붙임을 입었다면 참감람나무 뿌리에서 올라오는 진액을 가지 끝까지 공급받아 참감람나무의 성질을 그대로 소유해야 하겠습니다.예수님께서 "나를 떠나면 너희가 아무것도 할 수 없다"고 하셨습니다(요 15장 5절).
