Current Polish law does not restrict the use of the national flag without the coat of arms as long as the flag is not disrespected. Horizontal bicolours of white and red being a relatively widespread design, there are several flags that are similar but unrelated to the Polish one.

สถาบันอื่น ๆ และประชาชนชาวโปลส่วนมากจะชักธงชาติในวันหยุดราชการและในโอกาสพิเศษอื่น ๆ ที่มีความสําคัญเกี่ยวกับชาติ อนึ่ง กฎหมายธงของโปแลนด์ในปัจจุบันมิได้เข้มงวดการใช้ธงชาติซึ่งไม่มีรูปตราแผ่นดินอยู่ด้วย ตราบเท่าที่การใช้ธงดังกล่าวจะไม่เป็นไปด้วยความไม่เคารพ ธงแถบแนวนอนสีขาวและสีแดงถือเป็นรูปแบบธงอย่างหนึ่งที่ได้รับความนิยมอย่างแพร่หลาย
