The thermal insulation is foamed and cured in situ, from a preparation containing: for every 100 parts by wt. of a reactive solid (block-forming component), 40-250 parts by wt. of a water-containing hardner which initiates the curing reaction of the reactive solid (block-forming component) in the alkaline pH-range, 40-250 parts by wt. of fillers, plus a foaming agent.
