There is a discrepancy between the discussion of the work of Chase, and the theoretical and philosophical frameworks used by Peeters: on the one hand L’histoire de l’œil by Georges Bataille and the notions of transgression, psychosis and trauma are discussed; on the other hand he refers to Jean-François Lyotard’s distinction between presentation and presence, and to his commentaries on the paintings of Valerio Adami.
