And Gregory XVI. still more warmly favoured it and embraced it in the fullness of his paternal charity, since he, in his Encyclical Letters dated the 15th day of August, in the 40th year of this century, spoke of the same in these terms.: "We judge to be most worthy of the admiration and love of all good men this truly great and most holy work, which by modest offerings and daily prayers addressed by each associate to God is sustained, increased and grows strong, and which is occupied in maintaining Apostolic labourers and in exercising works of Christian charity towards neophytes, as well as in delivering the faithful from the attack of persecutions.

Con molto maggiore impegno la promosse, e con affetto veramente paterno la considerò Gregorio XVI, che nella Lettera enciclica del 15 agosto 1840 [più esattamente, con il Breve Probe nostis del 18 settembre 1840] di essa parlò in questi termini: "Opera, questa, veramente grande e santissima, che si sostiene, si allarga, si accresce con le modeste offerte e con le quotidiane preci innalzate a Dio dagli amici di essa; opera che, rivolta a sostenere gli operai apostolici, a esercitare la carità cristiana verso i neofiti, a liberare i fedeli dall’impeto delle persecuzioni, è da Noi considerata degnissima di ammirazione e di amore da parte di tutti i buoni.

Ac multo etiam studiosius fovit, et plane caritate paterna complexus est Gregorius XVI, qui in encyclicis litteris die XV mensis Augusti anno huius saeculi quadragesimo datis in hanc sententiam de eodem loquutus est: « Magnum sane opus et sanctissimum, quod modicis oblationibus et quotidianis precibus a quolibet sodalium ad Deum fusis sustinetur, augetur, invalescit, quodque Apostolicis operariis sustentandis, christi an aeque caritatis operibus erga neophytos exercendis, nec non fidelibus ab impetu persecutionum liberandis inductum bonorum omnium admiratione atque amore dignissimum existimamus.
