Ziel des gemeinsamen MIDGE/EnEx-Projektes war es, erstmals eine unkontaminierte subglaziale, also eine unter dem Eis befindliche, Wasserprobe aus den so genannten Blood Falls, den Blutfällen, in der Antarktis zu nehmen.
