However, these legislative measures were also the continuation of a trend that had already been initiated in 1992 in the shape of the 26th Act to Amend Criminal Law (Strafrechtsänderungsgesetz) (sections 180b and 181 of the Criminal Code – Trafficking in human beings) and in 1993 with the 27th Act to Amend Criminal Law (Punishability of sexual abuse of children committed abroad irrespective of the law of the place of commission; punishability of the possession and the acquisition of child pornography).
