Taking a look at the past two years we can conclude that tourism industry, and especially urban tourism, was among the fi rst and worst hit by the global recession that started in 2009, following a promising fi rst half of 2008 and a downturn in the second half of the year.

A mögöttünk álló két év eseményeit vizsgálva immár elmondható, hogy a 2008-as év bíztató I. féléve, s a második félévtől tapasztalható lejtmenet után a 2009-ben bekövetkezett totális recesszió egyik legelső és legnagyobb vesztese a turizmus, s azon belül a városlátogató turizmus volt.
