The stunning time-lapse footage of the aurora lights is the product of the Cupola – an observatory module with seven illuminators that open up a 360-degree view – which has allowed for the recording of incredible footage from between September 7 and 12. While some Inuit (indigenous northern peoples) believed that the spirits of their forefathers are dancing in the flickering aurora, there is a logical explanation for the northern lights... and it isn’t a fire bridge to the sky built by the gods, either, as Norse mythology suggests.

La agencia RUPTLY ha publicado las increíbles imágenes de las luces del norte capturados por Cupola entre el 7 y el 12 de septiembre. El modulo construido por la Agencia Espacial Europea y que entró en funcionamiento a bordo de la ISS en 2010 dispone de siete iluminadores, una de ellas de 80 centímetros, la más grande jamás utilizada en el espacio, que abren vista de 360 grados.
