Among them dominates the Trsat sanctuary – the oldest shrine to the Virgin Mary in Croatia – that has also became the pilgrimage center for numerous tourists coming from all over the world , especially after the Holy Father , John Paul II stayed in Rijeka in June 2003 and made his pilgrimage to Our Lady of Trsat .
