১৯৭২ সালের বাংলাদেশ পরিত্যক্ত সম্পত্তি (জমি, ভবন বা অন্য কোন সম্পত্তি) বিধি অনুসারে পরিত্যক্ত সম্পত্তি বলতে, ক. এই আইনের আওতায় যেকোন প্রকারের নির্মিত কাঠামো ও জমিসহ ভবন (দালান/ইমারত) ও এসবের প্রয়োজনীয় সংলগ্ন অংশ. খ. কৃষিজমি, উদ্যান (বাগান জমি) ও অকৃষি জমিসহ জমি ও বছরের যেকোন একসময় জলমগ্ন জমি এবং এ ধরনের জমি থেকে উদ্ভূত সুবিধাদিসহ জমিকে বোঝায়।

As per the Bangladesh Abandoned Property (Land, Building or any other Property) Rules 1972, property means (a) building including a structure of any kind and the land covered by it and necessary adjunct thereto, and (b) land including agricultural, horticultural and non-agricultural land, and land which is covered with water at any time of the year, including benefits to arise out of such land.
