ونتيجة لتنسيق أعمال الدعوة التي اضطلعت بها مفوضية الاتحاد الأفريقي ونيباد وبرنامج الأغذية العالمي، اعتمدت جمعية الاتحاد الأفريقي برنامج التغذية المدرسية بالاعتماد على الزراعة المحلية لاستخدامه كوسيلة لتخفيف حدة الفقر والجوع وأعادت تأكيد التزامها بتنفيذ المبادرة أثناء مؤتمر القمة المتعلق بالأمن الغذائي الذي عقدته نيباد والاتحاد الأفريقي في عام 2006.

As a result of coordinated advocacy by the African Union Commission, NEPAD and WFP, the African Union Assembly adopted the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme as a pathway to reducing poverty and hunger and reconfirmed its commitment to implementing the initiative during the 2006 NEPAD-African Union Summit on Food Security.

Como resultado de la labor coordinada de promoción llevada a cabo por la Comisión de la Unión Africana, la NEPAD y el PMA, en la Cumbre de la NEPAD y la Unión Africana de 2006 sobre seguridad alimentaria, la Asamblea de la Unión Africana aprobó el Programa de alimentación escolar con productos locales como una vía para reducir la pobreza y el hambre y reafirmó su compromiso de llevar adelante esa iniciativa.

Par suite des activités de plaidoyer menées en coordination entre la Commission de l’Union africaine, le NEPAD et le PAM, l’Assemblée de l’Union africaine a adopté le programme concernant l’alimentation scolaire à l’aide de produits locaux, comme moyen de réduire la pauvreté et la famine, et a réaffirmé son engagement de mettre en œuvre l’initiative au cours du Sommet de la sécurité alimentaire organisé par l’Union africaine et le NEPAD à Abuja en 2006.
