Das Os scaphoideum, der am häufigsten frakturierte Handwurzelknochen, wird in etwa zwei Drittel der Fälle gleichmäßig von den ernährenden arteriellen Gefäßen versorgt, so daß bei einer Fraktur beide Fragmente erhalten bleiben.

In two-thirds of all cases, the scaphoid bone, the most frequently fractured of the wirst bones, is uniformly vascularized, so that by fracture both fragments retain their blood supply. In the remaning third of all cases, only one end of the scaphoid is supplied arterially.
