The present invention relates to signaling downlink reference signal configuration information by a base station to a terminal in a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) environment and includes transmitting, to the terminal, four or five bits of control information for specifying, from a table, an antenna port, a scrambling ID, and the number of layers used when transmitting the downlink reference signal, wherein the table includes, for one codeword, N (> 4) fields indicating one layer, one antenna port, and one scrambling ID, three fields indicating one of two to four layers and two to four antenna ports corresponding thereto, and includes, for two codewords, N/2 fields indicating two layers, two antenna ports and one scrambling ID, and six fields indicating one of three to eight layers, three to eight antenna ports corresponding thereto, and one scrambling ID.
