The idea of this ethno cultural center was born more than 18 years ago by initiative of Praxedes Faridatocue and Juan Flórez from the huitoto tribe, originally from La Chorrera and Leticia respectively. From a young age, they recognized the threats represented by the loss of their indigenous identity due to the strong influence of western culture in their communities.

La idea del Centro de Conocimiento Etno Cultural Muina-Murui surgió hace más de 18 años como la iniciativa de Praxedes Faridatocue y Juan Flórez, indígenas huitoto originarios de La Chorrera y de Leticia respectivamente, quienes desde jóvenes reconocieron las amenazas que representaba la pérdida de identidad indígena debido a la fuerte influencia de la cultura occidental en sus comunidades.
