Efter Echelon, kan det engelsk-amerikanske system til kontrol af kommunikation mellem borgerne, NSA (National Security Agency) og CIA, på grundlag af United States National Plan for Information System Protection (amerikansk plan for beskyttelse af informationssystemer) udarbejdet af det nationale sikkerhedsråd, via et net på forbundsplan vedrørende overvågning af indtrængning (Fidnet) kontrollere alle de oplysninger og meddelelser, som via Internet udveksles i verden.

Following on from Echelon, the Anglo-American system for monitoring communications between citizens, the NSA (National Security Agency) and the CIA, under the United States National Plan for Information System Protection drawn up by the National Security Council, are now able to monitor all information and communication that takes place worldwide on the Internet, through a federal intruder detection network (Fidnet).
